Shortly after being strung along to his cousin’s riding lesson at the age of 8, Connor’s love of equestrian sport began. It was at this small facility in South Langley, British Columbia, run by Inga Martinoff, that Connor developed the hard-working, honest, and fun-focused approach he brings to his work today. Over his time with Inga he successfully competed in the jumpers at Thunderbird, Twin Oaks, Milner Downs, and Spruce Meadows with additional training from Judy Wise of Fairway Farms, another long-term and valuable mentor to Connor.
Upon graduation from secondary school, Connor received the opportunity to move to Germany and work at Gestüt Wäldershausen. It was over the next four years that Connor received invaluable knowledge and experience working alongside Olympians Lars Nieberg, Peter and Thieß Luther, as well as other top German riders.
During his time in Germany, Connor’s main focus shifted to the development of top young horses. He developed a strong foundation and experience in the process as he started dozens of young jumping and dressage horses as they were prepared for auction, approval, show, or sale. During this time Connor was also able to advance his riding while under the guidance of his world-renowned employers.
Upon his return to North America, Connor has since had various opportunities to train and work throughout the USA and Canada alongside top jumping trainers such as Chris Surbey (Bradon Equestrian), Eliza Hunt (Obsidian Hunter Jumper), Andrea Strain (Villa Training), Cara Anthony (Pot Creek Meadow Farm), Laura & Brent Balisky, and LJ Tidball (Thunderbird Show Stables). In addition, he has had the opportunity to collaborate and train alongside FEI dressage trainers Lorraine Chappell, Wendy Christoff, and Noni Hartvikson.
Through the establishment of Dennis Equestrian, Connor strives to continue to develop himself, his students, and horses to reach their full potential while providing an honest, passionate, and fun approach to the world of top equestrian sport.
